The next meeting of Subchapter 161 will be at Curt’s Café, 2922 Central Street, Evanston on October 21 beginning at noon. Attendees are encouraged to arrive at Curt’s Café as early as 11:30. When you order and pay for food, save your receipt so that you can be reimbursed if you win the lottery later in the meeting. Food will be delivered to the table during a recess at 12:45.
The meeting will include a speaker from the Alliance for Community Services who will discuss the campaign to Humanize Long Term Care. We will also hear updates on the CTU City Colleges Local 1600 contract fight and another speaker from the AFSCME local 1891, representing workers at the Evanston Public Library, will talk about efforts to improve working conditions and issues facing public sector employees.
AFSCME members are encouraged to vote and help get out the vote for the important November 3rd elections. The list of AFSCME endorsed candidates can be found here.
